On Constitution Day, at an event organized at the Supreme Court of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched several legal initiatives, under the "e-court project".

India celebrates 'Constitution Day' annually, on Nov 26th, in remembrance of adoption of the Indian Constitution, that is reputed as the longest written constitution of any country around the world. On the occasion, at an event organized at the Supreme Court of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched several legal initiatives, under the 'e-court project'.

The Project is an effort to provide services to litigants, lawyers and the judiciary through ICT (Information Technology Act) enablement of courts. The initiatives launched by the Prime Minister include Virtual Justice Clock, JustIS mobile App 2.0, Digital court and S3WaaS Websites. What are these initiatives though? Let us take a look;

 
1. Virtual Justice Clock
 
'Virtual Justice Clock' is an initiative to exhibit vital statistics of the justice delivery system at the Court level giving the details of the cases instituted, cases disposed and pendency of cases on a day, week and month basis at the Court level. The effort is to make the functioning of the courts accountable and transparent by sharing with the public the status of case disposals by the court. Besides, even the public can access the 'Virtual Justice Clock' of any court establishment on the District Court's website.
 
 
2. JustIS Mobile App
 
JustIS Mobile App is developed for the Judges of District & Subordinate Courts in the country. The App is username and password protected. The App is a digital repository that provides all details about his/her court at the handset 24×7. JustIS Mobile App 2.0 is a tool available to judicial officers for effective court and case management by monitoring the pendency and disposal of not only his/her court but also individual judges working under them. This App is also made available to High Court and Supreme Court Judges who can now monitor the pendency and disposal of all the States and Districts under their jurisdiction.
 
 
 
 
 
3. Digital court
 
Digital Court is a digital Mirror of Traditional Court transformed digitally with Ultra-Advanced Digital Infrastructure & First Class Services and powered by complete digital justice Eco-system that will enable you to resolve the disputes from the comforts of your home or place anytime and from anywhere. Just like Traditional Court where all the stages from filing to decision are performed in physical or offline world likewise in Digital Courts, an individual can file case, pay filing and professional fee, submit documents and tender evidences, examine and cross-examine witnesses and experts, present arguments, build awards and settlements and carryout all other incidental and necessary tasks, all on a single and online platform.

 
4. S3WaaS Websites
 
S3WaaS is a cloud service developed for government entities to generate Secure, Scalable & Sugamya (Accessible) websites. It enables government entities to choose from various themes for generating websites as well as customizing and managing the content easily, thus empowering them to maintain their online presence. Government entities requiring websites that are primarily informational can use S3WaaS framework to generate and host the website under GOV.IN or NIC.IN domain.
