Nagpur, Oct.3: Since its foundation 97 years ago in 1925, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has been engaged in awakening the society and injecting pride in it about our glorious and rich cultural heritage so that it can stand to face the challenges in its way to make Bharat a world leader, said Dr. Satish Chafale.

He was addressing the Vijayadashami congregation of Bal and Shishu swayamsevaks of RSS held at Janaki Nagar in Nagpur on Sunday. RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohanrao Bhagwat was conspicuous by his inspiring presence.

Gangadharrao Nakade, Director of Adarsh Sanskar Vidyalaya was the chief guest. Among the other dignitaries on the dais Ayodhya Bhag Sanghchalak Manohar Sapkal, and Nagar Sanghchalak Prof. Munnalal Rahangdale were prominent.

The Nagpur Mahanagar unit of RSS has decided to hold 40 such Vijayadashami Utsav in different localities of the city. Out of these 39 were held on Sunday while the remaining one will be held on October 9, coming Sunday.

Dr. Chafale was the chief speaker at one such program held in Janaki Nagar of Nagpur. He said that Dr. Hedgewar founded the RSS with an objective to make the Hindu society aware of its rich cultural heritage and legacy of thousands of years. With the advent of the British our society had forgotten our rich and glorious past and got submerged into the psychological abyss of slavery.

The Activities of RSS tend to inculcate good moral and patriotic sanskaras in the children and youth. The RSS so far has created generations of such trained and devoted swayamsevaks who are always ready to take up the responsibilities in times of distress and challenging situations, he said.

Gangadhar Nakade said that the country is known for its culture and identity. We can enjoy sound sleep because our brave soldiers are guarding our borders. We must keep this in our mind and be always grateful to them. This feeling will help us create ideal citizens, he added.

Prof. Munnalala Rahangdale made the introductory remarks and proposed a vote of thanks also.

The Bal and Shishu Swayamsevaks presented attractive and eye-catching drills with sticks etc.

The main function of Nagpur RSS will be held at Reshambag ground on October 5, coinciding the Vijayadashami day. Famous mountaineer Santosh Yadav, who had climbed Everest twice will be the chief guest this time. This is for the first time the RSS has invited any woman as the chief guest for its annual foundation day celebrations.

As usual, Dr. Bhagwat will be delivering his annual address which is likely to be watched carefully by the admirers and critics of RSS because of the recent reaching out efforts of the RSS towards the Muslim community.
