Mumbai, Oct 28: External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar paid tribute to victims of the 26/11 Mumbai attack as India is hosting a special meeting of the United Nations Security Council’s Counter Terrorism Committee (CTC).

At the meeting, India played the audio clip of Pakistan-based terrorist Sajid Mir, the mastermind of 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai. In the audio clip, he is heard trying to direct the attack on Chabad House during the Mumbai 26/11 terror attacks. He is ordering the terrorists on the phone, saying that wherever movement is seen, wherever there are people, start firing there.

While giving instructions, he said, "Where you see the movement, someone is walking on the terrace, someone is coming, shoot everyone. He doesn't know what is happening there." At the same time, while replying to Sajid, another terrorist on the phone assures him to do the same.

Now, this audio clip was played to the international community in the presence of Jaishankar and exposed Pakistan.

In September, China put a hold on a proposal moved at the United Nations by the US and co-supported by India to designate Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, Sajid Mir as a "global terrorist." The US had moved the proposal and co-designated by India to blacklist Mir under the 1267 Al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council as a global terrorist. Sajid Mir is a top Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT) Commander and is in charge of the "India Setup" of LeT.

Mir is a senior member of the Pakistan-based LeT and is wanted for his involvement in the November 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai. Mir was LeT’s operations manager for the attacks, playing a leading role in their planning, preparation and execution, according to the US state department. In June this year, Mir was jailed for over 15 years in a terror-financing case by an anti-terrorism court in Pakistan.

Earlier speaking at the UN meeting, Jaishankar said, "18 members of the Indian Police Forces, 12 members of the Taj hotel staff and security were martyred in the line of duty. As we pay tribute to them at the 26/11 memorial site, we salute their valour and their resolve."
