New Delhi, January 5: The Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Air Marshal VN Chaudhari, presented a detailed report to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh over the findings of the probe into the chopper crash which involved CDS Bipin Rawat. The tri-service court of inquiry was headed by Air Marshal Manvendra Singh.
While the IAF has not made the findings public yet, it is believed that the helicopter crashed after hitting terrain. A technical fault with the helicopter has been ruled out. The Air Force chief had earlier said that the VVIP protocols for flying will be reviewed once this probe is complete.
CDS Bipin Rawat, his wife, the defence assistant, security commandos, and an IAF pilot were on board the Mi-series chopper, when it crashed between the Coimbatore and Sulur in Tamil Nadu on December 8, 2021. It is learnt that the probe team examined all the likely scenarios for the crash.
