In the morning, generally I go for a walk in 'Symbiosis Play Ground 'in Viman Nagar, Pune. I prefer to walk on the soft ground rather than on the hard surface all around, just to ensure that my old knees are not under stress unnecessarily because I do some shuttle run.
The moment I crossed the entry gate, the security man told me "Sir, you can move around the ground, not in the ground."
I was bit disappointed. So, I asked him "Why?"
He did not like my question as I could see from his facial expressions and body language. "The ground is wet and it will be problem if you move in the ground.”-He said.
I wanted to go back but then I told him "Let me check, if it is wet, I will not go there"
He reluctantly agreed.
I went inside the ground and found no wet patches there. I did my little exercise and came back.
I told him- "Ground is absolutely fine, why were you were stopping me"
He said" I thought it will be wet and walking will spoil the ground"
“Did you check it up yourself?”, I asked.
“No”, He replied.
“I assumed that it will be wet because yesterday, there was a bit of drizzling.” He said to my amusement.
"How many people you have stopped today morning", I questioned him.
"I have stopped five walkers since morning , each one walked around the ground and went back"
Five walkers and no body took the pain to check it inside though each one of them were regular joggers in the ground.
Why don’t we check? Simple reason is that we assume that others will be right or probably we do not take pain to confirm or probably we want to give the satisfaction to naysayers that we believe them.
It is so convenient for naysayers to say – No because everyone generally believes them.
It could have been so easy not to check the ground physically and move out on the basis of wrong assumption. This is what we do in our life, many times in a day.
A simple check on the wrong assumption, makes the way in right direction. I have taken my lesson, please take yours.
All things are bright and beautiful.
