Delhi, September 27: PM Modi, made a ‘surprise’ visit on Sunday night where he visited the construction site of the new Parliament building, which is under Central Vista redevelopment project, for an inspection.
Modi arrived here without any prior allusion and security detail. He spent almost an hour at the site and did a first-hand inspection of the construction status here.
The PM managed make this visit despite having travelled non-stop for the past 3 days to the Unites States. The dedication shown here by him is unmatchable. He arrived at the Central Vista site at about 8.45 pm and spent almost an hour at the site, doing a first-hand inspection of the construction status of the new parliament building.
Numerous images showed PM Modi talking to the construction officials at the site of the project. It is being constructed at the cost of Rs. 971 crores. This project is scheduled to be completed in 2022.
When laying the foundation stone for the new Parliament in December last year, the Prime Minister stated that this new structure will fulfil India’s 21st-century aspirations while symbolising the “coexistence of the new and the ancient.”
The Central Vista project includes construction of a new Parliament House, along with a new residence complex for the PM and Vice President. It will also have new office buildings and a Central Secretariat to house offices of the various ministries.
Government officials have said that Parliament’s winter session in 2022 will be held in the new building.
This new parliament building will be having an area of 64,500 sq metres. It will also have a grand Constitution Hall showcasing India’s democratic heritage, a lounge for members of Parliament, a library, several committee rooms, dining areas and plenty of parking space.
In this new building, the Lok Sabha chamber will have a seating capacity for 888 members, while the Rajya Sabha will have 384 seats for members.
