Srinagar, August 24: Cutting the roots of terrorism from the soil of the Jammu & Kashmir, J&K police neutralised the top two commanders of The Resistance Force (TRF), a shadow outfit of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), who was responsible for several killings in the city.
According to the senior police officials, Abbas Sheikh, one of the longest surviving militants and chief of the TRF, and his deputy Saqib Manzoor were the name of the terrorist and they were responsible for several and motivating the youth to join terror ranks.
They were killed in a brief shootout. The police carried out the search operation after they were informed about their presence in the Aloochi Bagh area. Following the tip-off, the 10 jawans of police dressed in civvies quickly surrounded the area and challenged the terrorists, who opened fire. In the retaliatory firing the police killed the duo.

Police said that the killing of Abbas Sheikh, Saqib Manzoor was a major success as they were responsible for spreading terror in the area.
Both Mohammad Abbas Sheikh and Saqib Manzoor were among a list of wanted militants shared by the police for the year 2021.
Abbas Sheikh, who was earlier with Hizbul Mujahideen, defected to TRF two years ago. According to security officials, Sheikh was the mastermind behind most of the killings undertaken by his outfit in the past year.
Manzoor, a postgraduate student when he joined the TRF last year, quickly rose through the ranks as he was believed to have executed some of the killings in and around Srinagar at Sheikh's behest. Saqib Manzoor was involved in the killing of Adv Babar Qadri last year.
Besides, both the terrorists were also involved in several grenade attacks on security establishments & were also involved in several other terror crimes and civilian atrocities. They were also involved in reviving terror folds in district Srinagar and in the process recruited 7 youths into terror ranks in District Srinagar among them 4 stands already neutralized.
