Mumbai, August 02: A week after Raj Kundra's arrest, Bollywood actress and his wife Shilpa Shetty has finally broke her silence and issued the statement regarding the adult film case.
In her statement, Shilpa in her statement goes on to say that she will not comment on the matter as it is subjudice but has requesting people to not quote her falsely.
She further has requested people to respect the family's privacy, especially that of her children, and let the law take its course. She also added that she has full faith in the Mumbai Police and the judiciary.
On an Instagram post, Shilpa wrote, "My statement. Yes! The past few days have been challenging, on every front. There have been a lot of rumors and accusations. A lot of unwarranted aspersions on me cast by the media and (not so) well-wishers as well. A lot of trolling/questions posed… not only to me but also to my family. MY STAND… I HAVE NOT COMMENTED YET and will continue to refrain from doing so on this case as it is subjudice, so please stop attributing false quotes on my behalf. Reiterating my philosophy of, as a celebrity “Never complain, never explain”. All I will say is, as it’s an ongoing investigation, I have full faith in the Mumbai Police & the Indian judiciary."
She further added, "As a family, we are taking recourse to all our available legal remedies. But, till then I humbly request you - especially as a MOTHER - to respect our privacy for my children’s sake and request you to refrain from commenting on half-baked information without verifying the veracity of the same. I am a proud law-abiding Indian citizen and a hardworking professional for the last 29 years. People have put their faith in ME & I’ve never let anyone down. So, most importantly, I request you to respect my family’s and ‘my right’ to privacy in these times. We don’t deserve a media trial. Please let the law take its course. Satyamev Jayate! With Positivity and Gratitude, Shilpa Shetty Kundra."
Shetty's comments come days after the Bombay High Court refused to gag media as requested by the actor against alleged defamatory articles published against her and family after the arrest of her husband.
In an interim application, Shetty had sought for media to be restrained from publishing any ''incorrect, false, malicious and defamatory'' content, on which the court noted that passing a blanket gag order on the media against reporting anything on the matter shall have a ''chilling effect on the freedom of press''.
It should be noted that Kundra was arrested by the crime branch on July 19 for his alleged involvement in making pornographic films and publishing them through mobile applications. The businessman, called the key conspirator by the police, was denied bail last week by a city court after the prosecution contended the police investigation was still on and his release at this juncture will derail the probe.
