Uttarakhand CM announces Rs 200 cr package for tourism sector, to benefit 1.63 lakh families

Uttarkashi, July 22: With an aim to help the covid hit the tourist sector, the Uttarakhand government announced a relief package for people in tourism and those whose livelihoods depend on Char Dham Yatra-related activities.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced the Rs 200 crore relief package which is expected to benefit 1.63 lakh families in the state.
 
 
Addressing a press conference in Uttarkashi, Dhami said that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses of people working in the tourism sector and those engaged in making arrangements for Chardham Yatra have been most adversely affected.
 

"The pandemic has brought tourist activities to a halt and the Chardham Yatra remains suspended. Hotels, tour operators, and porters whose trades are connected directly with tourism and the Chardham Yatra have been hit hard," the chief minister said.
 
According to the announcement, the state government will directly transfer money to the bank accounts of the persons working or doing business in such sectors.
