New Delhi, July 11: After the Delhi court's warning, Jack Dorsey led micro-blogging platform Twitter has finally appointed its Resident Grievance Officer for India.

According to the Twitter's website, Twitter has appointed Vinay Prakash as the resident grievance officer for India. It has also provided contact details and procedures for users to report potential violations of its rules and terms.

"Twitter can be contacted in India at the following address: 4th Floor, The Estate, 121 Dickenson Road, Bangalore 560 042," stated the website. Additionally, the company has also published its compliance report for the period of 26 May 2021 to 25 June 2021, which was another key requirement under the IT rules.

Prakash's name appears along with Kessel, who is the Global Legal Policy Director and is based in the US. Twitter did not share additional details of the new resident grievance officer. Twitter had earlier appointed Dharmendra Chatur as the interim resident grievance officer for India, however, he had stepped down only days after his appointment.

It should be noted that the micro-blogging platform is already under pressure to comply with the new norms and has faced severe criticism from the government along with warnings of legal proceedings. Last week Delhi high court had hit out at Twitter for a delay in appointing the resident grievance officer. They also allowed central government to take action against the company as it wouldn’t be provided with protection.

Apart from non-compliance with the I-T rules, Twitter has also faced widespread provocation for showing a distorted map of India- (where Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh were shown outside India), along with displaying child pornographic content.
