Srinagar, June 29: In a massive breakthrough, the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have gunned down Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Nadeem Abrar Bhat a day after his arrest. He was killed in an encounter with a Paksitani militant at Maloora on Srinagar’s outskirts.
Bhat, who was active in Lashkar since December 2018, was involved in several killings of security forces and innocent Kashmiri civilians. And he is the same person who was involved in the attack on the CRPF patrol at Lawaypora (in which three CRPF jawans were killed) in March, was arrested at Parimpora at a checkpost on Monday.
According to Jammu and Kashmir Police, there was a specific input about terrorists carrying out an attack on a highway. Keeping in view the seriousness of the input, a few joint nakas of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were placed along the highway.

In Parimpora naka, a vehicle was stopped and their identity was asked. The person sitting in the back seat tried to open his bag and took out a grenade. Security forces swiftly swung into action and grabbed the person sitting in the back seat, police added. Both the driver and the person were taken to a police station. Later, it was identified that the person who took off his mask was LeT commander Nadeem Abrar.
Following this, Abrar was jointly questioned by JKP, CRPF and the Army. A pistol and hand grenades were recovered from his possession. On sustained interrogation, he disclosed that he had kept his AK-47 rifle in a house located at Maloora. He was then taken to the house to recover the weapon, police said.

When he reached the house, his Pakistani terrorist associate, about whom Abrar didn’t disclose anything, and who was hiding inside the house, fired on the security forces personnel. Initially in the crossfire, three personnel got injured. The injured personnel were evacuated and the rest of the party took position and called for reinforcement, according to police.
Further, in the gunfire, the Pakistani terrorist who fired from inside the house got neutralised and Abrar along the Pakistani terrorist were also killed. Two AK-47 rifles along with ammunitions were recovered from the site.
