Jammu, June 28: In the major development, after the first-of-its-kind
drone attack on Jammu airbase, another drone attack was thwarted due to the alertness and proactive approach of troops.
As per the security forces, two separate drone activities were spotted hovering over Ratnuchak- Kalu Chak Military area in Jammu, upon the sighting of drones, soldiers opened fire at the two drones and flew them away.
According to the officials, one drone was spotted at 11.45 pm on Sunday while the other one at 2.40 am. Both drones "flew away" after alert sentries fired at them.
Lt Col Devender Anand, PRO Defence, confirmed that two separate drone activities were spotted in Ratnuchak- Kaluchak military area in the outskirts of Jammu on the intervening night of June 27 and 28."Upon the sighting of drones, a high alert was sounded and Quick Reaction Teams (QRT) engaged them with firing, forcing the drones to fly away," he added.
Following the incedent, security has been tightened in and around military station Kalu Chak. Army and Police have also started search operations in Kalu Chak.
The Kaluchak military station was attacked way back on May 14, 2002, by three armed terrorists from Pakistan. The trio first attacked a Himachal Road Transport Corporation bus on Jammu-Pathankot highway and killed seven passengers before storming the station where they killed 23 persons, including 10 children, and five army soldiers.

wo low-intensity blasts, that were carried out by drones. The Indian Air Force (IAF) said, "Two low-intensity explosions were reported early Sunday morning in the technical area of Jammu Air Force Station. One caused minor damage to the roof of a building while the other exploded in an open area.". It added, "There was no damage to any equipment. The investigation is in progress along with civil agencies."
