Meanwhile, one of the accused named in the FIR retired Deputy Central Intelligence Officer P.S. Jayaprakash has moved an anticipatory bail plea in the Kerala High Court. The court has ordered the CBI to not arrest him till Friday and sought their reply to his plea. The High Court also sought the CBI's view on his petition.
While hearing, the counsel for the petitioner submitted, "The petitioner was only a middle-level officer who was part of the team that was helping the Kerala Police in the investigation. He did not take part in Nambi Narayanan's interrogation or arrest. He only interrogated Mariam and D Sasi Kumaran, the former space scientist."
The developments come after Supreme Court ordered a high-level CBI probe into the role of the erring cops in the case relating to ISRO scientist Narayanan. SC ordered probe on the basis of Justice D K Jain report, which had suggested that the spy case was a result of a conspiracy.
