Vishwa Hindu Paraishad delegation submitting memorandum to Governor Jagdip Dhankad on March 4 seeking his intervantion in stopping violence let loose by TMC goons in West Bengal

Kolkata, May 7: A delegation of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Daxin Banga (South Bengal) called on Governor Jagdeep Dhankad and sought his intervention to end the orgy of violence that has gripped the state soon after the election results were declared on May 2.

A VHP delegation met the Governor on May 4, 2021 and submitted a memorandum urging him to use his constitutional authority to end this mindless violence unleashed by the activists of All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the wake of party’s victory in the recently concluded Assembly elections.

The VHP delegation lamented at the present state of affairs in the state that was once called as the cradle of Indian Renaissance which has today crumbled to become a victim of political violence and vengeance. Ever since the Election Commission has declared the results of the assembly elections on May 2, this land supposedly inhabited by ‘Bhadralok’ witnessed the ‘celebration of violence’, the VHP said.

Citing incidents of attacks and ransacking and destruction of property and life of the BJP workers and supporters the VHP memorandum said that the BJP offices at several places in the state were plundered and burnt down. Supporters and members of the BJP were hackled, attacked and even killed and their houses destroyed. The law enforcing agencies and police remained a mute spectator to all this orgy of violence, the VHP pointed in its memorandum.

Unable to find a better alternative for redressing their grievances many people who were at the receiving end have taken recourse to social media, where they have posed photographs and videos of the attacks and destruction and called for help, the memorandum mentioned and added that it can be gathered from such photographs and videos that such acts of barbarism were orchestrated by the members and supporters of the Trinamool Congress, the party that has emerged victorious in the assembly contest in less than 24 hours ago.

vhp_1  H x W: 0The only fault of those who were attacked and killed was that they supported the BJP in the recently concluded elections, the VHP pointed. What these perpetrators fail to understand is that by attacking the innocent and unarmed people they are throwing the very essence of democracy. What these offenders have forgotten is that democracy is not a contest among the political parties but is a system that enables people to voice their opinion and choose their representatives and do so harmoniously.

Those who have voiced for or shown their inclination towards the ideology of the BJP have merely exercised their democratic right, guaranteed by the Constitution of India. They cannot be indicted for exercising their democratic right. It is unjustified and unwarranted, the Memorandum underlined.

The VHP also put forth some facts based on the information gathered from all over the state of West Bengal in the past 24 hours:

Prasenjit Sikdar, member of Bajarang Dal in Bardhman district, reported that in the evening of 2.5.21 under the leadership of one Subodh Ghosh, the local TMC leader, about 70 people ransacked his house and factory.

Gautam Prasad Malik, a BJP activist reported that at around 7.30 pm on 2.5.21 about 150 people ransacked his house and hurled bombs to cause destruction.

Ranjan Sardar, member of Bajrang Dal in Jangipara, reported that his stationary shop was destructed and goods were purloined.

Kamla Mondal, who was the president of booth no 177 Jagaddal Assembly constituency, was attacked. His brother Sova Ram Mondal came to his rescue and tried to save him from the perpetrators, however he lost his life in such scrimmage.

The VHP memorandum said that so far, 4000 houses were ransacked and 9 persons were killed in the state.

The VHP memorandum citing the rich past of the state lamented that the present state of the affairs in West Bengal cannot be allowed to precipitate further. The VHP said that the country is already grappled by the Covid-19 pandemic and resorting to vandalism over political and ideological difference cannot and should not be encouraged at such hours of crisis lest this great nation becomes a victim of its own spirit.

Quoting M K Gandhi’s words “I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent”, the VHP appealed to the Governor to take necessary steps to stop this ‘orgy of violence’ which continues unabated.

Meanwhile, the VHP Konkan Prant unit delegation met Maharashtra State Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and submitted a memorandum to him seeking his help in stopping the mindless violence in West Bengal.

The VHP urged the Governor to convey their feelings to the President and the Government of India to take necessary action to stop this violence and vandalism let loose by the TMC activists in West Bengal in celebration of their electoral victory.

The memorandum said that in spite of the Covid restrictions in the country, the TMC goons have unleashed a reign of terror against the Hindu society in West Bengal. They attacked the Hindu shops, houses, indulged in loot, arson and molested their women, committed mass rapes and killed them in the name of celebration of their electoral victory. The VHP deplored such violence in strong words and demanded stern action against the perpetrators of such heinous crimes.

Meanwhile, VHP National Spokesman Vinod Bansal also said that new government in the state must ensure the safety of innocent people being attacked wantonly. The new government must take punitive action against such elements.

In a tweeter comment the VHP Spokesman said that the attacks on Hindus are still continued in #WestBengal today. After #tmcgoons & #Jihadists, Now state police initiated a drive to frame false cases against the victims who raised their voice by posting true pics & videos to save themselves. हिन्दू कहाँ जाए
