Kolkata, May 6: The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) strongly condemned the attacks by Trinamool Congress supporters and goonda elements on its activists and offices all over the state of West Bengal following the victory of TMC in the recent assembly elections.
In a facebook release the BMS said that the TMC goondas attacked BMS activists throughout the State. With these terror tactics, TMC wants to stop the growth of BMS. These types of violent and intimidating acts will not yield any long-range benefit to TMC Unions. All the BMS activists will face situations and build the organization as they did earlier, the release said. The BMS also urged the concerned authorities to take stern action against these anarchic elements.
In the recent years the BMS has expanded its work in many parts of West Bengal by reaching out to many new unions and areas. This has developed a bit of jealousy among the TMC-led unions. Taking the electoral victory as an opportunity they indulged in vandalism and attacks on the BMS activists and offices.
In South 24 Paraganas some BMS Karyakartas left their places just to save their lives. Many people are in hospitals. In Kolkata, BMS Hawkers’ Union leaders’ shops were burnt after looting entire goods and cash. In Asansol district and other places the TMC goons allegedly snatched the ID cards, Gate Passes etc. from the Contract Workers and also threatened them with dire consequences.
Strongly condemning such brutal, mindless, and planned violence against its workers, the BMS accused the TMC of crossing all the democratic limits in its frenzy of the electoral victory. Such violence will not stop the BMS from expanding and consolidating its work in the state the BMS said and appealed to the concerned authorities to take corrective steps to end this madness at the earliest and ensure safety and security to the common people.
