New Delhi, May 27: In a update to the National Commission for Protection of Child Right's (NCPCR) demand for strict action against TMC leaders Alamgir Hasan Chowdhury & S.K. Laltu for alleged violence in the state of West Bengal, SP Hooghly Rural Police Team visited the victims and warned not to utter a word to NCPCR.
Since the conclusion of election polls in the state of West Bengal, there have arised many incidents of violence across, which have made people vulnerable and at imminent risk of danger and harm, especially children. In view of the serious nature of incident posing a threat to the safety of the innocent families, the NCPCR on Tuesday had taken the cognizance of the violence under the relevant sections and had demanded necessary action against the TMC leaders namely, Alamgir Hasan Chowdhury alias Rajesh and S.K. Laltu.
The named TMC leaders were supposedly involved in creating violence in the Hindu Para, Hiyatpur area, Arandi 2 GP, under Arambagh police station in Hoogly Rural District of West Bengal. The NCPCR had also demanded the statements be recorded of the affected families and children in a child friendly manner and be made available to NCPCR by the Special Juvenile Police Officers. Expressing concern over the role and responsibilities of the West Bengal Police in the entire episode, the commission said the police failed to discharge their duties during the violence and also failed to maintain the law & order situation of the area. 'Suitable disciplinary action against them is must', the statement added.
Earlier, the Commission had directed an FIR against the All India Trinamool Congress leader SK Sahajahan and West Bengal Police OC Shubra Sanyal under Juvenile Justice Act for attack, molestation and destruction of whole village and traumatizing the kids. NCPCR is a statutory body constituted under Section 3 of the Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CPCR) Act, 2005 to protect the child rights and other related matters in India.
