New Delhi, May 12: In the major development, Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company, Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) announced the initiative drive ‘Mission Hope’ to help India amid the oxygen crisis. As part of the mission, HCL is going to airlift over 4,000 oxygen concentrators into India.
And for that, HUL is collaborating with India’s largest home healthcare company KVN Foundation and Portea to address the need for medical oxygen in the country. Under this partnership, HCL will make the oxygen concentrators available to needy patients promptly and efficiently.
According to the HCL, concentrators will be sent to the worst affected cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Bangalore, etc. From 4000 concentrators, Portea will have access to 3000 concentrators, which will be provided free of charge to patients. The remaining will be donated by HUL to hospitals in nearly 20 locations across India.
Besides this partnership, the Company is facilitating as well as covering the cost for vaccination of its outer core of around 3,00,000 people including those who work for suppliers, distributors.
HUL has also set up isolation facilities across its 30+ manufacturing units – most of them located in rural parts of India. Apart from O2 concentrators, HUL will also be providing ventilators and other medical equipment for hospitals, including in rural areas.
It should be worth to be noted, HUL had also committed Rs 100 crores to support the communities impacted by the pandemic. The company also supported more than 100,000 migrant labor families with food kits for 15 days and provided more than three million soaps to communities across India.
