New Delhi, May 11: Aggrieved over the unprecedented violence and atrocities allegedly committed by Trinamool Congress (TMC) and jihadists after the recent assembly election results were declared, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) requested the President of India to initiate effective steps to immediately stop the violence and re-establish the rule of law.

In a letter to the President Ram Nath Kovnd, VHP Wrking President Adv Alok Kumar also urged the President that the rioters should be identified without delay, investigations should be completed and the guilty should be expeditiously punished through the Fast Track Courts.

Highlighting the sorry state of affairs in Bengal after the violent attacks, the VHP requested the President to direct the government for proper rehabilitation of the riot-affected people and give them compensation for the loss of life and property.

The VHP in its letter pointed to certain unpalatable facts about the TMC government. It said that in democracy it is the responsibility of the winning party to be fair and honest to all the citizens of the state including those who did not vote for it. In Bengal, though the TMC and its leader Mamta Banerjee received a massive mandate, it forgot its responsibility towards the citizens of the state.

Unfortunately, with the announcement of the election results in West Bengal, the workers of the ruling TMC party in league with the Jihadists have been perpetrating the most barbaric violence in the State, and the whole country is concerned and apprehensive about this state of affairs, the VHP alleged.

vhp_1  H x W: 0VHP Working President Adv Alok Kumar said that during the election campaign itself, Mamta Banerjee had issued threats that the central security forces were there till the elections only and after the elections it would be she only who would be managing the affairs. The wild, hysterical and uninhibited statewide violence in West Bengal is agenda-led, premeditated and preplanned.

It seems that the police and the administration have been signaled to look the other way and to ignore these unlawful violent episodes. It is, as if the law-abiding citizens of West Bengal have been left to the mercy of the rioter-wolves. This reminds of the ‘Direct Action’ known as the ‘Great Calcutta Killing’ of 1946 that was perpetrated by the pro-Pakistan Muslim League.

Resultantly, with the partnership enterprise of the Trinamool Congress workers and the Jihadis, the opposition workers are being killed openly. In Malda, two brothers were killed and their dead-bodies hanged from a tree. Houses are being burnt down, shops looted and the dignity of women are being outraged. The main target of this violence has been the people from the SC and ST communities.

From Coochbehar to Sundarban, the Hindu populace is being terrorized to flee and migrate from their native places. This violence also has a well-planned Jihadi face that will have far-reaching consequences.

Under the Constitution of Bharat, Law and Order is the responsibility of the State Governments and it has a duty to ensure due protection of law to all the residents of its State. The Government of West Bengal is failing in this duty. This also is in violation of the values of co-existence enshrined in Bharatiya culture and the Constitution, the VHP said.

The VHP letter further said that the Hindu society of West Bengal has suffered during the two earlier regimes of Mamta Banerjee, but this time round, as the violence continues unabated it has become clear to the country that unless the administration of Bengal is not put under right checks and balances immediately, then this term can be disastrous. It may be that the Hindu society itself at some places might be forced to devise ways to defend itself. Both these scenarios are matters of concern for the whole country.

It is essential that –

(1) Effective steps be taken to immediately stop the violence in West Bengal and re-establish the rule of law;

(2) The rioters be identified without delay, investigations completed, challans filed and the guilty expeditiously punished through Fast Track Courts;

(3) The riot-affected people be rehabilitated and compensated by government for the loss of their life and property.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad requested the President to kindly take note of this alarming situation and advice the Government to take appropriate action.
