NCPCR orders probe into sharing sensitive data of victims of sexual harassment with Foreign Agencies by 2 AP NGOs

New Delhi, May 11: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) on Monday registered a complaint against Nazareth Association for Social Awareness, Nazareth Educational Society for disclosing identity of the victims of sexual harassment and orphan children by circulating their details and images on Foreign Websites in violation of Section 74 of the Juvenile Justice Act 2015.
This is probably after the Legal Rights Protection Forum wrote to the NCPCR chairman bringing to notice the need for action against Nazareth Association for Social Awareness. The said organisation, running Children Homes as a part of their objective has in a dreadful incident circulated on international websites the details, name, photos of poor orphan children and victims of sexual harassment.
As reported, Scottish NGO Scottish Love in Action is partnering with Nazareth Association for Social Awareness and is raising funds abroad for the Children Homes run by Nazareth Association for Social Awareness which in turn funding to another organization named Nazareth Educational Society headed by Sony Wood Nuthalapati. The funds being received from ‘Scottish Love in Action’ are rooted to ‘Nazareth Educational Society’ through ‘Nazareth Association for Social Awareness’ for the purpose of education.
The official website of Nazareth Educational Society says that it is a Child organization to Nazareth Association for Social Awareness and in the NGO Darpan site which is maintained by NITI Ayog, ‘Nazareth Educational Society’ says that it is receiving funds from Nazareth Association for Social Awareness for taking up the activities of Providing all round care, long term food, shelter, education, medicine to orphan children at NASA’s campus and later sending them for the higher education.
In this process of fund raising for the Children Homes run by ‘Nazareth Association for Social Awareness’, the ‘Scottish Love in Action’ is widely circulating the images, details, names, stories and videos of orphan children ‘Nazareth Association for Social Awareness’ on its official website. More serious thing to be mentioned here is, ‘Scottish Love in Action’ is disclosing the photos and names of the minor girls who are the victims of sexual harassment.
Adding further to the misery, Sony Wood Nuthalapati, the office bearer and Chief Functionary of ‘Nazareth Educational Society’ forces the minor orphans to adopt Christian religion and way of life. "Sony Wood Nuthalapati, the Chief Functionary and President of Nazareth Educational Society and also a member of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission is on record says that in presence of the District Collector, he has recorded the religion of the orphans as Christian. It clearly appears that in the Orphanages run by these NGOs there is no provision for protecting the religious identity of the orphans and only Christian prayer and worship methods are imbibed in them", the letter read.
The NCPCR has ordered the Government of Andhra Pradesh a detailed inquiry into the violations against this NGO while ensuring well-being and security of children living in the Homes. The NCPCR therefore demands the action report in the matter within seven days.
