Samyamindra Tirtha Swamiji's visit to Kashmir becomes first of any Saraswat Math Swamiji in the valley since decades

Jammu, Apr 7: The Mathadhish of Shri Kashi Math Samsthan, Varanasi Shrimad Samyamindra Tirtha Swamiji visited Jammu's Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra on Apr 5 and became the first Saraswat Swami to visit the Kashmir valley after a period of decades, only after the abrogation of Art 370.
During his visit, Swamiji interacted with the members of the Kashmiri Pandit community in Jammu. Prior to the interaction, Swamiji's visit to Kashmir was the first time for him in the valley. As it was the first time for him to visit Kashmir, Swamiji also performed ritualistic Bhoomi poojan ceremony to honor where the Saraswats rightly belong. According to Swamiji, every Brahmin who belongs to the Kashmir valley is a Saraswat brahmin by lineage.
While Swami Samyamindra was interacting with Kashmiri Pandits, he commemorated the struggles and sacrifices of the Saraswat brahmins, that have been forgotten over the years. He said, eventually in order to protect and preserve their language, culture and traditions, Saraswat brahmins were left with no option but to migrate to different places and leave their birth land. Swamiji, while performing the bhoomi poojan rituals, prayed for the revival of the original inhabitants of the land; Saraswat Brahmins back to the valley.
During his interaction with the Kashmiri Pandits, Swamiji focused on how Kashmir has been a constant witness of the barbaric invasion that took place in the Indian heaven of Kashmir and the brutal killings of brahmins and the destruction of culture and heritage of the original Kashmiri Hindus. Swamiji referred Kalhana's Rajtarangini, sharing his appreciation for the Kashmiri Pandits' intellectual efforts to keep the historical past of Kashmir alive.
In the program that was organized by Dr M K Bharat, Samyamindra Tirth Swamiji was welcomed with traditional 'Vanwon' performance, which is a Kashmiri folk linked with Vedic and Puranic period. Dwarika Nath Raina, general secretary, welcomed the guests during the ceremony and Padmashree Dr K N Pandita acclaimed Swamiji's visit Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra, while emphasizing on the fact of common ancestry of Saraswat Brahmins and Kashmiri Hindus.
