Mumbai, April 05: Maharahstra Home Minsiter Anil Deshmukh has tendered his resignation to the Chief Minister's Office after the Bombay High Court on Monday ordered a preliminary inquiry by the CBI on allegations made by former Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh against Deshmukh.
Nawab Malik in a an exclusive interview to one of the news media agencies confirmed the news saying that Anil Deshmukh had gone to Sharad Pawar to talk about the resignation. "Pawar has green signalled the event and hence Anil Deskhmukh has now gone to CMO office handing his resignation", Malik said.
Earlier in the day, the Bombay High Court ordered a CBI investigation into the allegations levelled by the former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh against Anil Deshmukh. The court ordered the central investigating agency to start a preliminary inquiry within 15 days.
The court order came on a petition by Dr Jaishri Patil. While hearing the plea regarding the allegations by the former Mumbai Police Commissioner, the Bombay High Court said Anil Deshmukh was the Home Minister and an impartial probe by the police, which reports to the Home minister, was improbable.
