Mumbai, Apr 30: The Bombay High Court on Thursday took cognizance of magnanimity shown by the octogenarian Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) swayamsevak Narayanrao Dabhadkar who in spite of being severely affected by corona virus, offered the bed allotted to him to a younger patient as an act of supreme sacrifice.

It may be mentioned that this 85-year-old RSS swayamsevak had willingly relinquished and offered his bed to a young corona positive patient at Nagpur's Indira Gandhi Hospital situated in Gandhinagar area of the city. The news of his supreme sacrifice went viral on the social media channels and even some prominent media portalas across the country in no time. However, some left, progressive and secular media channels tried to give a twist to this inspiring incident by resorting to fake, unfounded narratives.

The recognition of Dabhadkar’s sacrifice by the Bombay High Court has now put all the discussions, narratives and counter-narratives on this issue at rest.

The Bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice Girish Kulkarni was hearing a petition related to management of Covid-19 pandemic. In course of the hearing Chief Justice Dutta mentioned about incident of a senior covid positive patient offering bed to a young patient by refusing to accept the bed allotted to him. This act of the senior patient was an example of generosity, the Chief Justice said.

Justice Dutta also said that this incident also reflected on the bad management of the pandemic by the government. Had the government prepared itself to deal effectively with this pandemic well in advance we could have saved the life of Narayanrao Dabhadkar, he commented.

This observation by the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court should now put all the controversies deliberately generated over the supreme sacrifice of late Dabhadkar by the vested interests.
