London, Apr 15: Britain’s Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said on Wednesday, that the United Kingdom will “support an orderly departure of our forces” from Afghanistan, since NATO withdraws from the country.
Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said in a statement, “We will support an orderly departure of our forces, whilst building up Afghanistan’s capacity for self-governance, and continuing counter-terrorism support - to protect the gains made over the last 20 years."
Earlier on Wednesday, U.S. President Joe Biden said he would begin withdrawing troops from Afghanistan on May 1 to end America’s longest war. The President said, “The United States will begin our final withdrawal -- begin it on May 1 of this year. We will not conduct a hasty rush to the exit. We'll do it responsibly, deliberately, and safely. And we will do it in full coordination with our allies and partners, who now have more forces in Afghanistan than we do.”
UK Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab, shared on twitter, "The UK stands with NATO & the people of Afghanistan to build a more stable, peaceful future. We will continue to counter the threat of terrorism and will always remember those that have fought and sacrificed to protect the rights and freedoms that Afghans have come to enjoy."
