New Delhi, Feb 5: The tweets by pop singer Rihanna on farmers’ agitation have evoked a sharp reaction from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Bollywood celebrities. The pop singer has supported the farmers’ agitation and accused the Government of India of inflicting atrocities against them.

Along with Rihanna, environmental activist Greta Thunbrg and porn star Mia Khalifa too had extended support to the agitating farmers though they do not have adequate knowledge of ground reality vis-à-vis farmers prolonged stir in India demanding the scrapping of the three farm laws.

“Before rushing to comment on such matters, we would urge that the facts be ascertained, and a proper understanding of the issues at hand be undertaken. The temptation of sensationalist social media hash tags and comments, especially when resorted to by celebrities and others, is neither accurate nor responsible. #IndiaTogether #IndiaAgainstPropaganda,” Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

The MEA’s reaction came after American pop singer Rihanna and Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg tweeted about the farmers’ protest in India.
