Ind vs Eng: Five-wicket haul and ton by Ashwin set target of 482 for visitors

Chennai, Feb 15: Ravichandran Ashwin scored a century as India was bowled out for 286 in the second innings on day three of the ongoing second Test against England here at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Monday. It is his third time that he has a five-wicket haul and a century scripted under his name in the same Test. Only Ian Botham (9) has done it more often than Ashwin.

India, on Day 3, has set a target of 482 runs for the visitors. However, England could not have stable start as the visitors were 53 for three at Stumps and now need 429 runs to win against India. With openers Rory Burns and Dom Sibley losing their wickets after scoring 25 and 3 runs respectively, England had a shaky start. Now, on the crease are - Daniel Lawrence (19) and Joe Root (2).
 
 
Earlier, India scored 286 runs in their second innings, with Ravichandran Ashwin slamming a century. The 34-year-old scored 106 runs off 148 deliveries, consisting 14 fours and a six. Besides, captain Virat Kohli (62) scored a half-century during his side's second innings. Meanwhile, Jack Leach and Moeen Ali were the top bowlers for England, registering four wickets each
 
 
 
At the end of the India's innings, Ashwin formed a crucial 49-run stand with Mohammed Siraj and the duo took the hosts' score to 286 and the lead was extended to 481 runs.
