Manipur, December 8: The centre has released Rs. 120 crores to Manipur under the Jal Jeevan Mission or JJM to expedite its implementation in the state, said the Jal Shakti Ministry on Wednesday.
The Ministry said in a statement, “Central Fund of Rs. 481 crore has been allocated to the state for 2021-22 for the implementation of JJM, which is nearly four times the fund allocation made during 2020-21.” Manipur is planning to make the provision of tap water supply to every rural household by September of next year, it added.
The Ministry also said, “As on date, out of 4.51 rural households, 2.67 lakh have tap water connections. Since the announcement of JJM, about 2.41 households have been provided withy tap water supply. In 2021-22, the state plans to provide tap water connections to 2.26 lakh rural households.”
Announced by PM Modi on August 15, 2019, JJM is under the implementation in partnership with the states with the objective to provide the functional household tap connections to each rural household of India by year 2024.
