Mumbai on high alert after inputs of possible terror attack by pro-Khalistan groups

Mumbai, December 31: A high alert has been sounded in Mumbai, after intelligence agencies received inputs about the terror activities planned by pro-Khalistan groups. A senior officer said that after Jaswinder Singh Multani, member of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) who was allegedly linked to Ludhiana court blast, was detained and questioned in Germany.

They received inputs regarding planned terror activities in Mumbai and other big cities. He said, “We have received inputs that apart from SJF, other banned pro-Khalistan groups are in contact with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to execute terror activity in Mumbai, Delhi and other cities.”

Sikhs For Justice is a designated terror group in India. An alert has been issued to Mumbai Police and has been asked to remain vigilant and to take note of any suspicious activity.
 
 
The Mumbai Police have instructed all police stations to be on a high alert. Quick Reaction teams along with bomb squads have been instructed to be on toes on New Year’s eve. Mumbai Police have already prohibited New Year celebrations and gatherings in any closed or open space - including hotels and restaurants.

After the arrest of Multani in Germany, many things have come forth. It has come to light that several pro-Khalistan militant outfits, especially, in UK, Canada and Pakistan, were allegedly involved in carrying out the December 23 blast. According to Indian intelligence agencies, they are now spreading terror ahead of the Punjab assembly elections.
 
 
According to reports, a dongle was retrieved from the blast site by the Punjab Police and NIA. The dongle was connected to the mobile phone through which 13 international phone calls were made to Pakistan, Dubai and Malaysia. Multani had a huge role to play in the blast. The explosives were given to Gagandeep for the blast on his pretext. It was also revealed that he was planning on sending explosives to Pakistan to carry out terrorist activities in Punjab.
