Amid Omicron, Delhi sounds 'Yellow Alert', more curbs to be imposed

The CM said that the COVID positivity rate in the national capital has been above 0.5%, therefore they have decided to impose a ‘yellow alert’ of the Graded Response Action Plan.

New Delhi, Dec 28: In view of rising cases of Omicron, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has sounded a yellow alert in the national capital and said some restrictions will be imposed soon under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).

The CM said that the COVID positivity rate in the national capital has been above 0.5%, therefore they have decided to impose a ‘yellow alert’ of the Graded Response Action Plan. "A detailed order on restrictions to be implemented will be released soon," Kejriwal added.
 
The yellow alert entails restrictions like night curfew, closure of schools and colleges, the opening of non-essential shops based on an odd-even basis, halved seating capacity in Metro trains and buses among others. Meanwhile, cinema halls, multiplexes, banquet halls, and auditoriums will remain closed. Hotels will remain open, but banquets and conference halls inside the hotels will remain closed.
 
Moreover, sports complexes, stadiums, and swimming pools will also be closed in yellow alert, although national or international sports events can be held.
 
 
 
"The curbs explained under GRAP's 'Yellow Alert' will be imposed by the local authorities only after the DDMA issues an order specifying all the curbs and the date from which they will be imposed," the chief minister. " Only after the DDMA order is out, the authorities will enforce the restrictions," he added.
 
It should be noted that, Delhi, has reported a surge in COVID-19 cases in the past week. Yesterday, the national capital registered 331 new cases of coronavirus--the highest single-day rise since June 9. The city has the second-highest Omicron cases at 165 after Maharashtra.Delhi's caseload has surged to 14,43,352 including 1,103 active cases, according to the health department.
