Karbi Anglong (Assam), Dec 21: In a major drive against drugs in the BJP-led state, Assam Police evicted more than 1000 illegal squatters that were part of inter-state drugs cartels in Karbi Anglong district of Assam, said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
"In a major drive Assam Police evicted 1050 illegal squatters, part of inter-state drugs cartels, from Borjan Mouza, (Block No 3, Dudu Colony) under Bokajan Subdivision in Karbi Anglong district," Sarma tweeted. "This serves a major blow to the supply, and storage centres for drugs," he added. Currently, Assam Police is actively conducting a drive against Drugs.
The Assam government has been also working for evicting enroachers. In November, the Assam government had conducted a two-day eviction drive in the Lumding reserve forest in Hojai district to remove illegal encroachers from the forest lands. The state government has carried out the drive, following the directives of the Guwahati High Court.

The CM had said, "Today, we have demolished around 555 houses, illegal structures. Most of the people who encroached on the forest lands have cooperated with us and they left from the forest lands." The govt had also carried out drives to evict illegal settlers from the government lands at the Dholpur Gorukhuti area in the Darrang district.
