Chandigarh, Dec 17: With the illegal conversion of Hindus/Sikhs to Christianity rising rapidly in the state, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has decided to set up a chair at the university level for the study of the Bible. The Christian community would be given due representation in the state government boards, he said.

This came after Channi made this announcement during a state-level function to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Jesus Christ at Gurdaspur. Speaking on the issues raised by the Christian community, Channi said that the problem of graveyards would be resolved in the districts where the community has a presence.

“The land for graveyards would be provided where it is not available but the community has a sizeable presence there,” he said, adding that a community hall would be constructed in each district in order to enable the community to hold functions there.

In the past, Channi has been part of events that were highly performing conversions. Recently, the Punjab CM was named as chief guest in pastor Bajinder Singh’s healing meeting held in Moga, Punjab.

However, the VHP opposing the event, had said how due to opposition from the Hindu-Sikh community against pastor Bajinder Singh’s healing meeting held in Moga, Punjab, the arrival of the Chief Minister and other guests, as well as the conversion of hundreds of people, was prevented. “Illegal conversion will never be tolerated anywhere”, Tweeted VHP.

In a veiled manner, CM Channi has clearly showing his support for the illegal conversion racket that is happening today in his state, according to VHP.
