Ahmedabad, December 11: Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended best wishes to Patidar community as he laid the foundation stone of Umiya Mata Temple at Umiya Campus in Sola, Ahmedabad, on Saturday.
Shah addressed the gathering saying, “I thank the Umiya Mata organisation for giving me the opportunity to participate in this sacred work. I got an opportunity to lay the foundation stone of the Dham.” He also said that the Patidar community has contributed to the development of the state. He added, “Patidar societies have made significant contributions in many fields.”
It is considered as a place of pilgrimage and centre of faith of the Patidar community, especially Kadva Patidars, the Umiya Mata temple serves as a place of religious importance. This temple is dedicated to Maa Umiya, who is the deity of the Kadva Patidar sect, and will come up at a cost of Rs. 1,500 crores. Governor Acharya Devvrat, CM Bhupendra Patel and other leaders of the Patidar Samaj were also present at this ceremony at Umiya Campus.
