'We will form govt in Punjab': Amarinder Singh after meeting Haryana CM Khattar

Chandigarh, Nov 29: Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh said that he along with his allies will form the government in Punjab after securing victory in the upcoming Assembly election. The remarks were made after meeting Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar at his residence in Chandigarh.

Singh while speaking to media persons said, "It was a courtesy meeting with Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar. Our membership drive is going great, wait for the time. We (with our allies) will form the government in Punjab."
 
"God willing, we and with our seat adjustment with the BJP and with Mr (Sukhdev Singh) Dhindsa’s party (SAD Sanyukt), we will form the government," he said, replying to media queries. Asked if he will meet BJP leaders for a seat sharing arrangement for the Punjab elections, the former Congress leader said he will go to Delhi and certainly call on Union minister.

On the farm laws, he said, “Everything is now over. The three bills (laws) have been repealed by Parliament. Farmers had raised six or seven other issues, which Government of India has agreed to. There is no other issue left." He said it was up to the farmers to take a decision on ending their agitation. "I did not have any negotiations with the farmers, but people whom I know had been in touch with them. If Centre has agreed to all their demands, I do not think there is anything left."
 
 
Notably, Singh had floated his new party Punjab Lok Congress soon after leaving the Congress after stepping down as chief minister of Punjab. Punjab is scheduled to go for Assembly polls in 2022.
