Thiruvananthapuram, November 23: After taking three people into custody, Kerala police probing the RSS workers' death case, has now arrested an office-bearer of the Popular Front of India (PFI) in connection with the brutal murder of RSS worker A Sanjith.
The police have not disclosed the identity of the accused.
Earlier, police had arrested 3 people from Mundakkayam, near Kottayam. They were identified as Subair, a native of Mundakkayam, and Salaam and Ishaaq, both of whom were natives of Nenmara in Palakkad. A senior police officer said that three persons are in the custody of police probing the case. He, however, did not elaborate.
A four-member gang brutally hacked the RSS worker, Sanjith, to death in broad daylight in front of his wife in Mambaram in Palakkad district on November 15. The 27-year old RSS worker was killed when he was taking his wife to her place of work. The incident occurred at Ellapully in the Palakkad district at 9:30 in the morning.
The BJP and Sangh Parivar organisations have alleged that the activists of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), the political offshoot of the Islamist outfit Popular Front of India (PFI), were behind the broad daylight murder of Sanjith.
A 34-member team was constituted by the police to investigate the incident. The police have also recovered the CCTV images of the white Maruti 800 car that was used by the accused to chase the RSS activist and his wife, who were travelling on a motorbike. On November 18, police recovered blood-stained swords suspected to have been used in the murder of the RSS worker.
