Boosting tourism, popularizing unknown and unexplored places, J&K organizes a Winter Carnival

Srinagar, November 22: In order to boost tourism in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu Tourism Department is organizing a Winter Carnival in the beautiful valleys of Patnitop every week to popularise the unknown or unexplored tourist places. The department, which celebrates the Amrit Mahotsav on the completion of 75 years of independence, has also decided to continue its programs in December and January.

 

This carnival will be organized as soon as Patnitop receives a good snowfall. Apart from local artists, some Bollywood stars are also expected to be invited to this carnival. Apart from stalls of Dogri delicacies in the carnival, various departments are also planning to set up booths to promote local products. However, on the 27th of November, a kite-flying and painting competition will be organized at Purthu on the platform of Ranjit Sagar Dam. This will be the first significant event for promoting Purthu, which is popularly known as Chota Goa.

 

A cycle rally is also being organized on the 4th of December which will start from the Golf Course in Sidhra, Jammu, and will end at Suruisar. For this, youth will be invited to take part in the rally.

 

In the next two years, the Tourism Department has decided to encourage these places by organizing various programs at 38 identified areas of the Jammu division. Most of these areas are such where to date no tourism activity has taken place. Of these 38 places, four are in Jammu, six in Kathua, four in Udhampur, four in Reasi, one in Samba, three in Poonch, five in Rajouri, five in Ramban, three in Kishtwar, and three in Doda district. 75 tourism festivals will be held at these places.
