Pathankot, November 22: In a major concern, a grenade was hurled near the Triveni Gate of the army camp by unknown people in Pathankot, Punjab early on Monday. As per the reports, no casualties have been reported so far.
Reports suggest that the grenade was hurled by unknown persons who came on a bike when a marriage procession was passing through the area.
The police force has been rushed to the spot where they are checking the CCTV footage. Local police officials recovered parts of the grenade from the site. SSP of Pathankot, Surendra Lamba said, "A grenade blast took place near Triveni Gate of an army camp in Pathankot. Further investigation is underway. CCTV footage will be probed. "
The FIR has been registered at the Pathankot police station under three sections of the IPC and three sections of the explosive substances act. Meanwhile, further investigation into the incident is underway.
Following the incident, security has been tightened across the Jammu region. All the police check-posts of Pathankot have been put on alert. Vehicles are being thoroughly checked.
In January 2016, the Indian Air Force's Pathankot Air Force base was attacked by heavily armed terrorists in which two security forces personnel died in the initial fight and another succumbed to injuries hours later.
