A bid to establish ties? Taliban meet representatives of UK, USA, Canada & EU in Doha

Taliban spokesperson Suhail Shaheen said that isolating Afghanistan in the past proved to be a failed policy.

Doha, October 08: In the major development, Taliban spokesperson Suhail Shaheen on Thursday held meetings with the ambassadors and diplomatic officials of the US, European Union, United Kingdom, and Canada.

Taliban spokesperson Suhail Shaheen gave the information about the meeting saying that he had a meeting with ambassadors and officials from the European Union, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States. He also stressed the need to continue development activities in that country in order to avoid 'isolation'.
 
 

Today I had a meeting with ambassadors and representatives of various countries including the EU, Norway, Sweden, Netherlands, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Canada, UK, and the USA here in Doha. Other members of the IEA (Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan) delegation consisted of Mawlavi Matiul Haq, President of the Afghan," Shaheen tweeted.
 

Shaheen also shared photographs of the meeting in Doha and further said that the participants underlined their commitments to continue humanitarian aids to Afghanistan. Shaheen said that the Taliban is willing to engage with the international community, the world is still far from giving recognition to the Taliban government in Afghanistan.
