Srinagar, October 06: Jammu and Kashmir is once again bleeding as a terrorist killed a prominent Kashmiri Pandit businessman Makhan Lal Bindroo at around 7 pm on Tuesday while he was dispensing medicine in Srinagar.
Apart from Bindroo, a street food vendor in Srinagar, who hailed from Bihar, and a taxi stand association president in Bandipora was also killed in the separate terrorist attacks, police said.
The bedroom was shot by the assailants from point-blank range while he was at his pharmacy dispensing medicines. After that he was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead. The attack on Bindroo took place barely hundreds of metres from SSP Srinagar's office and Cargo Camp of police located in the area that on daily basis maintains a bustling environment.
Pol ce have been cordoned off and also have launched a search operation to nab the terrorists. Bindroo, 65, owned the “popular and trusted” Bindroo Chemists, which was set up by his family in 1947 at Hari Singh High Street in Srinagar.
He was one of the few among his community who did not migrate out of Kashmir after the onset of militancy in 1990. The businessman stayed back along with his wife to continue operating his pharmacy Bindroo Medicate. Bindroo Health Zone was opened a few years ago.
Meanwhile, in another terrorist attack, a street hawker was shot dead near Madin Sahib in Hawal on the outskirts of Srinagar, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said.
