Mumbai, October 22: The selection process for India’s official entry to Oscars 2022 in the Best International Feature Film category has commenced. The Jury members in Kolkata are screening a total of 14 films to select the final one. Amongst the list of these shortlisted films are Vidya Balan's Sherni, and Vicky Kaushal's Sardar Udham. Both of these films are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Vidya Balan plays a forest officer in the film and tries to resolve the man-animal conflicts in it. Directed by Amit Masurkar, the film starred Sharat Saxena, Mukul Chaddha, Vijay Raaz, Ila Arun, Brijendra Kala and Neeraj Kabi in pivotal roles too.

 
Vicky Kaushal’s Sardar Udham is a story of a courageous revolutionary, Sardar Udham Singh, who went on a mission to avenge lives of those who were brutally killed in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919. This film is directed by Shoojit Sircar.

The 94th Academy Awards are to be held in March 2022 in USA. The process to select which film would represent India at Oscars is happening at the Bijoli cinema in Bhowanipore, Kolkata. A panel of 15 judges is will be watching14 films over the next few days to shortlist India’s official entry to the Oscars 2022.
