Mumbai, October 21: Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan reached the Arthur Road prison today, where his son Aryan Khan has been lodged since October 8, after getting arrested in the Mumbai cruise drugs case.
Physical meetings at the prison were prohibited due to the Covid-19 pandemic. These restrictions ended on Wednesday. Thursday was the first day when physical meetings started in Maharashtra jails.
Shah Rukh Khan's meeting with Aryan lasted about 16-18 minutes in the visitation section. Aryan, 23, was yet again, denied bail on Wednesday after being arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on October 3. It has been more than 2 weeks that Aryan Khan was arrested. He has now approached the Bombay High Court to seek bail.
While rejecting the bail application of Aryan Khan, Judge VV Patil held that prima facie there is evidence against him. Judge Patil wrote that, though Aryan Khan was not found in possession of drugs, Aryan and Arbaaz Merchant are good friends. They travelled together to the Cruise Terminal on October 2. In their voluntary statements, they spoke about the drugs, and this implies that Aryan knew about the contraband.
Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha have been booked for offences under Sections 8 (c), 20 (b), 27, 28, 29 and 35 of NDPS Act.
