Nainital, Oct 20: Char Dham Yatra which was temporarily suspended due to heavy rainfall in the region, will resume from Wednesday (October 20), informed State Police. This came after Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday held review meeting with Director-General of Police, Ashok Kumar.

On Tuesday, Kumar said, "Garhwal is almost under control, even the 'Yatra' has been started there. Leaving the last stretch of Badrinath i.e., Joshimath to Badrinath has been opened and 'Char Dham Yatra' will completely revive tomorrow." He also informed that Nainital-Kaladhungi road, which was blocked due to heavy rainfall has been reopened.
 
 
According to the reports, more than 40 casualties are reported so far with about 25 from Nainital. The highest effect of rain has been witnessed in the Kumaon areas of the state, which include Nainital, Haldwani, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat. Police, SDRF, NDRF teams are working on relief operations, thousands of people have been evacuated.
 
CM Dhami took the review meeting after conducting an aerial review of Garhwal and Kumaon. He on Wednesday announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakhs for the families of 46 people who died due to heavy rains in the state. Besides, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be visiting Uttarakhand to review the heavy rainfall situation.
