New Delhi, September 05: In a huge development in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, Mumbai's Esplanade Court has sent Hrea Chakraborty's brother Showik Chakraborty and Sushant Singh Rajput's house manager Samuel Miranda to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) custody till 9 September on a four-day remand. However, the alleged drug peddler Kaizan has been sent to 14 days of judicial custody.
The two were brought to Esplanade (Killa) Court on Saturday by the NCB officials to seek their custody for further interrogation. Showik Chakraborty is represented by advocate Satish Mansinde while advocate Subodh Desai appeared as Samuel Miranda's counsel. Advocate Ashwinh Thool appeared for Kaizen.
On Friday, the NCB raided Rhea Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda’s house after that NCB has booked the duo under IPC sections 20 (B) -deals with production, possession, transportation, and usage of cannabis, 28 (counterfeit), 29, and 27 (A). Both Showik and Samuel have been named as accused by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the FIRs registered by them in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case.
The NCB has arrested a total of five people in this case till now, the others being Zaid Vilatra, Abdel Basit Parihar, and Kaizan Ibrahim. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) will record the statement of Sushant Singh Rajput's cook today in connection with a drugs probe linked to the actor's death. The NCB had also told a court that Showik used to order ganja and marijuana from drug-peddler Abdul Basit Parihar, who has been arrested and made payments to him over Google Pay.
Zaid Vilatra, an alleged drug peddler was arrested after NCB uncovered his linkages with Abbas Lakhani, who was apprehended after a raid in which bud (curated marijuana) was seized from him. While arguing the remand application of Vilatra on Thursday, the Special Public Prosecutor for the NCB told the Magistrate that the drug case is connected to Rajuput's death case.
Moreover, Rhea Chakraborty was likely to be summoned by NCB on Sunday. This development comes after Showik named his sister Rhea in his confession to the agency. This has come after Showik Chakraborty has allegedly confessed that he had procured drugs on the instructions of his sister actor Rhea Chakraborty.
Showik claimed that Rhea had allegedly asked him and Samuel Miranda to procure drugs adding that he was allegedly in contact with several other drug peddlers, as per NCB sources.
Various angles surrounding the death of the 34-year-old actor are being probed by three federal agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Moreover, CBI also visited his flat in suburban Bandra this morning as part of its investigation. In the last two weeks, the Central probe agency had visited the flat twice to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the actor's death, among other things.
