Mumbai, September 04: Bringing a new turn in Sushant Singh Rajput's case, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) summoned Sushant's house manager Samuel Miranda and Rhea Charoborty's brother, Showik Chakraborty in the wee hours on Friday following a narcotics raid at his Mumbai home. They have been detained under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
This comes after two separate teams of NCB conducted parallel raids at the residences of Rhea Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda at around 6:30 am and 6:45 am on Friday. The raids were conducted a day after the Mumbai court sent alleged drug peddler Zaid Vilatra to seven-day custody of the NCB. An NCB official said the searches are routine and the drug law enforcement agency is following due procedures.
During the raid, NCB teams searched Rhea Chakraborty's car, phone, and laptop on Friday. The NCB team also carried out parallel raids at Samuel Miranda's and Show Chakraborty's residences. The agency has also seized Showik's laptop and crucial digital evidence.
NCB's Zonal Deputy Director MK Jain said, "The searches were conducted at two places at Showik Chakraborty's and Samuel Miranda's residences. Officers were present. We have asked both the persons to be present. I have said that they have been issued notice to join investigation under NDPS Act." The raid comes after the NCB on Thursday apprehended Kaizan Ibrahim, who is suspected to be a drug trafficker.
Following the summon to Samuel Miranda, the NCB issued a summon to Rhea Chakraborty's brother Showik and asked him to join the investigation. Furthermore according to the NCB Rhea's brother Showik Chakraborty and Sushant's former manager Samuel Miranda will be jointly questioned by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB)
Miranda was appointed by Rhea Chakraborty in May last year. He used to manage all the household expenses. Rajput’s family has alleged that Miranda helped Chakraborty in siphoning off his money and supplying drugs.
Miranda's angle comes after Showik Chakraborty shared Zaid Vilatra's (a drug peddler,) contact number with Sushant Singh Rajput's manager Samuel Miranda and asked him to pay Zaid Rs 10,000 for 5g of drugs on March 17. There is a high possibility that Bashit had given Zaid's reference for providing the contraband to Samuel. Samuel Miranda called Zaid three times.
Zaid has been arrested in connection with the drugs trafficking case, has been sent to the custody of the NCB till September 9. The NCB on Thursday claimed that Zaid during the investigation revealed "names of many persons to whom he supplied drugs. Moreover, drug peddler Basit is currently being taken for medical tests and then is likely to be produced before the magistrate court.
Moreover, the NCB has also carried out searches at several locations in Mumbai and arrested two people, namely Abbas Lakhani and Karan Arora. The NCB registered the case after the Enforcement Directorate wrote to it after WhatsApp messages between Rhea and Shruti Modi, Miranda and Pithani came to light. The messages dating back to 2017 allegedly indicate dealings in banned drugs and chats about the procurement and consumption of drugs.
After that, the federal anti-narcotics agency on August 25 registered a case against Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea, her brother Showik, Gaurav Arya, Jaya Saha, Sushant's co-manager Shruti Modi. The case has been registered under Sections 20 (b) 28, 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
