Mumbai, August 27: In a major twist in the Sushant Singh Rajput Case, the Narcotics Control Bureau has registered a case against Rhea Chakraborty and others after a new angle involving the use of drugs emerged in the case during the probe.
A case under sections 20, 27, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS). These sections pertain to criminal conspiracy in procuring and consuming illegal drugs. A team has been formed and has left Delhi for investigation in the drugs-related matter in this case.
Deputy Director of Operations KPS Malhotra will be supervising the case. The team from Narcotics Control Bureau has left Delhi to Mumbai to probe the drugs angle on Thursday morning. The NCB team will interrogate the drug dealers recently caught in Mumbai and Pune.
This comes after ED recovered Rhea Chakraborty’s WhatsApp messages with a drug dealer named Gaurav while looking into the money laundering angle. The chats were deleted, but they were recovered by the probe agency. The deleted messages, they claim, allegedly indicate dealings in banned drugs and chats about the procurement and consumption of these drugs that include cannabis. “Use 4 drops in tea, let him sip it …. Give it 30-40 mins to kick in”. After that, the ED wrote a letter to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to look into the drug angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.
The ED on Wednesday summoned Jaya Saha, the talent manager of Rhea, for questioning after it came to the fore that the actor had shared a few messages related to drugs with her. Meanwhile, Rhea's lawyer Satish Maneshinde on Tuesday night said in a statement: "Rhea has never consumed drugs in her life ever. She's ready for a blood test at any time."
Following the case NCB director Rakesh Asthana said in a statement, “We received a letter from ED on Tuesday evening, stating that during their probe into the financial aspects, they found that drug was supplied to Rhea and Sushant. An NCB team will now conduct an inquiry and people involved will be questioned.”
The 15-page Whatsapp conversations handed over to the NCB indicate that Rhea and her associates had discussed allegedly spiking Rajput's tea or coffee with a drug to get a certain 'kick'. Moreover, the NCB team from Mumbai has also been asked to start analysing the network of drug peddlers in the city. It has also been asked to look into the Bollywood network
Besides this reacting to the news, actress Kangana Ranaut has stated that several "A-listers will be behind bars" if NCB "enters Bollywood". “If Narcotics Control Bureau enters Bollywood, many A-lister will be behind bars, if blood tests are conducted many shocking revelations will happen. Hope @PMOIndia under swatchh Bharat mission cleanses the gutter called Bullywood," Kangana tweeted on Wednesday.
Kangana Ranaut also said that she is ready to help the NCP expose the dark side of Bollywood if she is given protection from the Central government.
On August 19, the Supreme Court had transferred the investigation into the actor’s death to the Central Bureau of Investigation. The CBI team has interrogated Rhea’s brother Showik, Sushant’s flatmate Siddharth Pithani, CA Sandeep Shridhar, and others in connection with the case.
