Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attends Victory Day Parade in Moscow

Moscow, June 24: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh who is on a 3-day visit to Moscow attended the 75th Anniversary of Victory Day Parade at Red Square on Wednesday. The Tri-Service contingent of the Indian Armed Forces is also participating in this parade along with other 11 countries, including China.

The Minister arrived on Tuesday making it the first trip by any Indian Minister overseas since the coronavirus outbreak. "Attending the Victory Day Parade at Red Square in Moscow today to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Victory of the Soviet People in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. I am proud that a Tri-Service contingent of the Indian Armed Forces is also participating in this parade," he said while attending the parade.
 
 
Speaking on the participation of the Indian Armed personnel, he wrote"Impressive turnout of the Tri-Service contingent of the Indian Armed Forces at the Victory Day Parade in Moscow is indeed an extremely proud and happy moment for me".
 
 
Earlier on Tuesday, Singh met Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov to review defence co-operation. He was assured by Russia that all the ongoing contracts for military supplies will be provided as scheduled and be finished speedily in spite of all the difficulties of the COVID-19 outbreak. The discussions between both the leader 'were very positive and productive'.
 
 
Further, he even conveyed his greetings for solemn ceremonies of 75th Victory Day in World War II and congratulated the friendly people of Russia, especially the veterans, who have contributed so much to the common security of India and Russia. "Many of them were part of the war efforts to providing assistance to the Soviet Army. Therefore, it is a great honor that an Indian Military contingent will be marching in Red Square tomorrow. This is a sign of everlasting friendship between the armed forces of both our countries," he said.
 
On the other hand, Chinese counterpart Wei Fenghe is also present in Moscow for the parade but both India has confirmed that there will be no meeting between the Defence Ministers of the two countries in Moscow.
