Amit Shah assures Uddhav Thackeray, Vijay Rupani help to deal with Cyclone Nisarga; Reviews preparedness NDMA, NDRF, IMD, and Indian Coast Guard

 New Delhi, June 02:  Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired meeting with NDMA, NDRF, IMD, and Indian Coast Guard officials to review the preparedness for dealing with Cyclone Nisarga brewing in the Arabian Sea that is expected to hit parts of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Daman and Diu. He assured the chief ministers of these two states with all Central help in view of the impending Cyclone.

NDRF has already deployed 13 teams in Gujarat including 2 kept as reserve and 16 in Maharashtra including 7 teams as a reserve, while one team each was deployed for Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. NDRF is aiding the State Governments for the evacuation of people from low lying coastal areas. 
 
 
Earlier, it was reported by the India Meteorological Department had informed that the well-marked low-pressure area over South-East and adjoining East-Central Arabian Sea & Lakshadweep area concentrated into a Depression and it is very likely to intensify into a Deep Depression during next 12 hours and intensify further into a Cyclonic Storm over the East-central Arabian Sea during the subsequent 24 hours. 
 
Maharashtra and Gujarat are on alert as the Met department expects very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in parts of these states on June 3 and 4. In order to ensure all the assistance needed for these states, the Union Minister held a Video Conference meeting with Chief Minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray and Administrator of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Shri Praful Patel.
 
The Minister has assured them all Central help in view of the impending Cyclone and asked them to spell out in detail the requirements and resources needed to deal with the situation.
