New Delhi, June 13: Contradicting Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s allegation about the intrusion of Chinese troops into Indian territory, Ladakh BJP MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal asserted confidently that India did not lose even an inch of its land to China ever since Narendra Modi has come to power in 2014.

He advocated for encouraging civilian residents to settle permanently in border areas by creating strong infrastructure.

Namgyal also claimed that not only Aksai Chin but the CPEC that passes through the Shaksgam Valley also belonged to India.

In a recent interview to a television channel, Namgyal called for developing infrastructure in border areas to strengthen the security. The people living in the border do not want confrontation with the neighboring country but will rise to the occasion if required, he asserted.

Recently, the Prime Minister of Government of Tibet in Exile Lobsang Sangay had said that China was trying to make intrusions into the Indian territory to divert the attention of the world and to hide its failure on the coronavirus pandemic front. China is getting isolated on this account and due to the frustration is trying to divert the attention, he alleged.

Namgyal, commenting on Rahul Gandhi’s allegation about Chinese intrusion into the Indian territory said that it was during the Congress government headed by Pt. Nehru that the Chinese had intruded into Indian territory and forcibly occupied the Indian territory. He said that he had provided Rahul Gandhi the details of Chinese intrusions into the Indian territory during the UPA rule.

"I have visited all these areas and have photographic proof. Ever since the Narendra Modi government came to power in 2014, not one inch of land has been lost to China," BJP MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal said.

He also strongly advocated strengthening infrastructure development in the border areas and encouraging the civilian population to settle there to secure the borders fully.

He said that the policymakers in Delhi should encourage the resident civilians to settle permanently by creating a strong infrastructure of electricity, mobile networks, schools, etc. This will help us create landmarks and permanent villages. We have villages now also but they are discouraged to live permanently for the lack of medical and other facilities, he added.

In the 21st century when the world is moving on to 4G and 5G, why should youngsters in Ladakh live there without any facilities, he asked.

Since the 1962 Indo-China war, the Chinese have forcibly and illegally occupied 37,244 sq.km of Indian territory in Aksai Chin area which is described as ‘China occupied Ladakh’. The PLA under the guise of Chinese nomads occupied these lands as part of their expansionist policy, he said.

"The incursions are not just taking place at Pangong Tso Lake and Chushul but in several other areas as well. Our nomads live in every area. Their summer and winter pasture lands are different. In winter, the nomads descend. They move according to the climate. We have lost several pasture lands as our people cannot move now," Jamyang Tsering Namgyal said.

The Indian Parliament had passed a unanimous resolution to reclaim the Indian territory illegally occupied by China and Pakistan when PV Narasimha Rao was Prime Minister. Recently Home Minister Amit Shah said that Aksai Chin belongs to India.

The abrogation of Article 370 and 35A and forming Ladakh into a Union Territory has irked China and it has seen this decision as a provocation. Namgyal endorsed Amit Shah’s observation and said that not only the Aksai Chin area but the Shaksgam Valley through which the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CEPC) passes, also belonged to India. We should reclaim all that area, he said.

He said it may be difficult but not impossible at all.
