I have not found a more attractive name and the cover of any book on RSS so far. Though the author and the book have got good coverage in mainline media (especially compared to coverage of non-negative news on RSS) I do not recall anyone mentioning that the cover of the book has a map of Akhand Bharat and combined with the title, it says many things without saying anything.
The last line of the first page is another point that has not got the attention that it should have. But I am sure, over a period it will see many debates, essays, and PhDs. The line is “the Sangh would become coterminous with all of Indian society and the need for it to exist as a distinct entity would be obviated”.
The chapter on Hindutva is outstanding to say the least. Every believer of Hindutva should read this. The book has many firsts to its credit (as per my understanding). This is the first time I have come across any RSS functionary writing his views on History Projects, Nehru Memorial, Homosexuality, and Transgenders.
The last paragraph of the book on “leadership for Sangh Centenary” is powerful.
For those who are looking for a chapter named “The RSS Roadmaps for the 21st Century”, will be disappointed but there is an Organogram in the last chapter, I am not sure if there is a message in there.
The glossary and index are helpful. Language is lucid. The three names who have written the advanced praise brings a smile on the face. It would have been nice if the author, who has a Masters in zoology would have given a little more peep into his working life or maybe that will make another book.
Any idea, product, film, play, etc. fail if they are before or after the appropriate time. This book has appeared at the perfect time.
