New Delhi. Apr 14: Paying tributes to Dr. Babasaheb Ambekdar Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Central Working President Adv Alok Kumar said that late Babasaheb was a ‘Yug Purush’ who fought against the scourge of untouchability, casteism, and social discrimination and inequality.

He reiterated that while remembering him on his birth anniversary the VHP observed his birth anniversary by honoring the COCID-19 sanitation warriors by distributing safety masks, hand gloves and sanitizers following the government guidelines. The VHP organized felicitation of sanitary warriors at Valmiki Basti, Rohtak, and Lady Harding Hospital Staff Quater New Delhi.

Alok Kumar said that this time around, it is not possible to celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on a large scale due to the outbreak of Chinese Coronavirus but the countrymen would pay homage to this great son of Mother Bharat at their houses.

The VHP working president appealed to the people to abide by the government guidelines by observing lockdown and maintaining social distancing. He said that our sanitation workers are acting like warriors in the war against the Chinese Coronavirus pandemic. Honoring them would be a true tribute to Babasaheb, he said.

Dr. Ambedkar suffered from casteism and discrimination since his childhood. But in spite of this humiliation, he fought throughout his life to build a harmonious society without any bitterness in his mind and heart.

Dr. Ambedkar was an outstanding warrior of 'social justice', Alok Kumar said quoting Dr. Ambedkar who had said that if self-refinement, grace, and dignity are attained by being free from untouchability, then not only will the Dalit society itself progress, but its chivalry and wisdom prove to be a factor for the country's progress.

In the concluding meeting of the Constituent Assembly, Baba Saheb had said that political equality had come through the Constitution, but we would have to convert political democracy into social democracy as well! We must now again have a society that is free from untouchability and upholds and celebrates justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.

This work of Baba Saheb is still pending. On his birth anniversary, the Vishva Hindu Parishad re-dedicates itself to continue working on these goals, he said.
