New Delhi, Dec 7: Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS), a major organization of the farmers alleged that foreign powers are trying to sabotage the farmers’ agitation and declared that it would not be the part of the December 8 ‘Bharat Bandh’ called by the farmers and supported by the opposition political parties.
The farmers mostly from Punjab, are agitating on the Delhi border since last 11 days demanding total repeal of the three farm laws enacted by the Modi Government. The agitating farmers apprehend that the bills would rob them of their land, remuneration for their produce and thus make them poor.
With no solution in sight even after repeated parleys with the government, the farmers have given a call for ‘Bharat Bandh’ on December 8 which all the non-BJP political parties and trade unions supported.
Mishra said that the protests in London and Canada clearly tell how the anti-India elements were using the farmers’ agitation to further their ‘Break India’ agenda. The farm laws were in the interest of the farmers, however they need certain amendments, Mishra said saying that there was no need to repeal them completely.
The BKS leader said that there should be no purchasing below the MSP in the wholesale markers or outsides. He also preferred registration of all traders on a government portal that can be accessed by all. Payments should be made to the farmers in a stipulated time through bank guarantee and setting up of the agriculture tribunals for resolution of farmers’ disputes in their hometown itself, were some other measures suggested by the BKS to assuage the hurt feelings of the farmers.
So far five rounds of talks were held between the farmers and the government but to no avail. The sixth round is scheduled on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the agitating farmers supported by political parties have given a call for nation-wide bandh on December 8.
Political parties including Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, Nationalist Congress Party, CPI(M) and DMK are backing the day-long strike.
