New Delhi, Dec 29: Finally the agitating farmers have accepted the offer of talks extended by the Cental Government to strike out an amicable solution to their demands including scrapping of the three farm laws.

The Modi government has extended this invitation of talks to the agitating farmers and invited representativ3es of some 40 organizations and groups on December 30. The invitation was sent by Union Agriculture Secretary Sanjay Agrawal on Monday evening.

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha, an umbrella body of the agitating farmers is expected to hold internal discussions on the government invitation and deliberate on their response as the invitation did not specifiallly mentioned their prime demand of repealing the three farm laws.

The Agriculture Secretary said that the farmers’ groups had intimated their willingness to hold parleys with the government with an open mind. “The government is committed to finding a logical solution of the relevant issues with an open mind and honest intentions”, Sanjay Agrawal said.

So far, five rounds of talks were held between the farmers and the government as their protest entered the 34th day today. On all occasions the farmers’ groups, mostly dominated and led by the left-liberal-secular parties, have rejected the government proposals. They remained stubborn on their demand of repealing of the laws as a precondition to any solution.
